Using botox to reduce the signs of wrinkles and skin aging
Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as ‘Botox’, short for Botulinum toxin. This is a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles.
When injected, Botox relaxes muscles, preventing skin from creasing and causing wrinkles. It's effective for "expression lines", such as frown and surprise lines on the forehead and crow's feet around the eyes, and "turkey neck" – lines on the throat.
The effects of Botox facial injections typically last three to four months, but they can last longer with ongoing treatment.
Frown Lines (Glabellar lines) – The vertical lines between the eyebrows caused by frowning. Treatment relaxes the muscles to soften a tired or angry appearance.
Forehead Lines – Horizontal lines that appear when raising the eyebrows. Botox smooths these lines while maintaining natural movement when done correctly.
Crow’s Feet – Fine lines around the outer corners of the eyes caused by smiling or squinting. Treatment softens these while keeping a natural smile.
